- Fri, 15:24: @clausegger I would say it is more the honor society. In an honor society, it is offensive to suggest that things are bad. People defend bad
- Fri, 15:33: @clauseggers So this ‘honor’ ethic is part of why even people who already receive govt healthcare oppose better govt healthcare. Cowboys.
- Fri, 17:33: Preparing to break my Gentoo: trying building Gnome 3 from overlays.
- Fri, 17:42: @ciarasworld Not as bad as a yellowjacket nest, fortunately.
- Fri, 17:44: I’m thinking about how I ‘broke’ my Gentoo by building KDE4 from overlays. Broke because nothing worked. But then working KDE4 repelled me.
- Fri, 20:01: Paludis is downloading all kinds of Gnome 3 sources while also building some version of glib. 112 packages to build and install; some done.
- Fri, 20:02: Having eight cores really helps when you build your own OS from sources. Equiv. machine bought these days would have 16 cores, though.
- Fri, 20:07: RT @OMGTeenQuotez: The sexiest curve on your body is your smile. Flaunt it.

- Fri, 20:22: Whoa, a miscount; it’s 133 builds. Currently on number 40, with no failures so far. (The results are such that jinx is impossible.)
- Fri, 20:23: What is nice about building your stuff from sources is you less often have library version problems. You build against whatever you have.
- Fri, 20:51: RT @FontSquirrel: Have to admit this is how i want my birthday cake decorated this year: http://t.co/TV6Ay05
- Fri, 20:54: Building an entire Gnome 3 installation has CPU temperatures elevated. They’ll be sore afterwards! Up to build 62 of 133: app-crypt/seahorse
- Fri, 21:16: So far, Totem build failed. That’s not a big deal. Up to build 93 of 133 (gnome-games; like I need that?)
- Fri, 22:08: Oh, I see -- the ‘build’ count includes purges of packages no longer needed. The Totem build failed for trivial reasons; should be done soon
- Fri, 22:17: Finally troubling myself to reading about Gnome 3. They are falling into the tight-integration trap. May end up dumping Gnome a 2nd time.
- Fri, 23:36: I’m running in Gnome 3, though I had to "chmod -x gnome-shell" and run "WINDOW_MANAGER=fluxbox startx" for it not to crash.
- Sat, 00:00: Well, that sucked. I’m running pure fluxbox and am going to rebuild Gnome 2. Too bad I couldn’t install them side-by-side w/current schemes.
- Sat, 01:04: On build 59 of 69 for the re-installation of Gnome 2 (which I use with Fluxbox as window manager rather than the default Metacity BTW).
- Sat, 01:04: And I killed the Gnome panel, too.
- Sat, 01:27: Now a bunch more Gnome 2 stuff to rebuild after adding the '-c' flag to my build command. I knew it was too few before.
