Priorities: Roberts Hearings Not Delayed by Armando Fri Sep 2nd, 2005 at 11:00:40 PDT
As of now, the GOP-controlled Senate has stated its intention to commence the John Roberts' confirmation on Tuesday, September 6.
In all decency, these hearings should be delayed at least a few days to see where we are in the Katrina Aftermath. Surely the Senate has important urgent Katrina Aftermath business that should be addressed before taking up Roberts. A delay of a couple of days should be announced now.
This would be the very least the Republicans should do to signal to the American People that they care about this unprecedented tragedy. To go forward and push the Katrina tragedy aside is akin to making a political push for the permanent elimination of the estate tax. Oh wait . . .
