Proselytizing atheists

Atheists of the Dawkins type, though that’s just an example, seem to be Christians with a novel variation on the gospel but with a similar intention to ‘rescue’ people by (de-)conversion through good news.

The trouble here is not atheism but that they are mimicking characteristics of Christianity that make it offensive even when it is not carrying out persecutions. Perhaps they do that because the Jesus version of the Golden Rule is badly phrased, a negative commandment (don’t offend others) phrased in positive terms.

(Jesus himself was probably telling people already Jews to be really, really good Jews immediately, because God was about to resurrect everyone, make them immortal, and put righteous Jews in charge of the world. That was his good news, not one of conversion.)
