Again regarding why I am no longer a Democrat

Jesse J. Holland of the AP writes:

Less than three years after first donning a judge's robe, Roberts seemed on a path toward speedy confirmation.

On paper it looks good when the Democrats 'compromise' rather than let Frist explode his nuclear bomb, because this way the Democrats still have the filibuster. There is a fairly obvious problem with that approach, however: if you follow that method as one of your major techniques, you simply are ceding ground in hopes of earning mercy that, in fact, you will not get. You are doing like Chamberlain; and now we will have, it seems, this Roberts fiend as Chief 'Justice', without any of the power to stop it that the Democrats, as a party, supposedly were saving for this more important day, by freeing Frist of his personal dilemma and rewarding his bluster and threats.
