Saint Paul Saints win the 2004 Northern League Championship

Okay, what I've just witnessed, that's what baseball is about. A come-from behind rally, mostly with two out, in the bottom of the ninth of the fifth game of a five-game series, the game gets tied up, the bases are loaded, and then Marc Mirizzi hits a grand slam.

The only thing that might have made it better is if the grand slam had made it 7-6 instead of 10-6.

Opponents were the Schaumburg Flyers and they were tough. They made the Saints earn it.

This is the first championship win for the Saints since 1996, which had Darryl Strawberry and Jack Morris on the team for parts of the first half season, which is a little bit like cheating. This was nothing like that. The guys this year were just plain good.

Now we return to my usual griping about the Alcoholic in Chief.
