LJ page customization

I have been hacking on and continue to be hacking on my LJ style. If you have the DejaVu font family installed, you might find my LJ more readable (assuming you don't override my settings). Otherwise, if I haven't made an error, you should continue to get what you were getting before.

Genealogy link in my LJ user info

I've put a link in my LJ user info to my genealogy page. You used to
have to go over to The Crud Factory to get this link. I haven't
updated this in a long while, not even to sync it with my private
database, which I haven't updated in several months.

I did recently try to find all the U.S. presidents in my
database and see what kind of relationship (including by marriage) I
might have. The program did find a lengthy path between Ulysses
Grant and me, but found nothing between me and James Garfield or FDR.

The American Legion plans ahead

NEW YORK The American Legion, which has 2.7 million members, has
declared war on antiwar protestors, and the media could be
next. Speaking at its national convention in Honolulu, the group's
national commander called for an end to all “public protests” and
“media events” against the war, even though they are protected by
the Bill of Rights.

"The American Legion will stand against anyone and any group that
would demoralize our troops, or worse, endanger their lives by
encouraging terrorists to continue their cowardly attacks against
freedom-loving peoples," Thomas Cadmus, national commander, told
delegates at the group's national convention in Honolulu.

The delegates voted to use whatever means necessary to "ensure the
united backing of the American people to support our troops and the
global war on terrorism."...

There is method to the madness -- the neo-Nazis who have taken over
the American Legion are preparing the symbolic environment for the
ass-kicking they know we are getting. They know we will withdraw in
shame, so they are preparing to blame the sane people for the
ass-kicking and the shame.

Oy, the legs / Ho ve, la kruroj

The calf muscles of both legs are aching badly whenever I sit down. It's not restless legs, I have no urge to move them. Also I feel chilly. It's the fibro. I haven't been to a ballgame in weeks and was planning to go tonight, but it isn't just the legs, it's also that I can't yet wear shirts with sleeves longer than an undershirt's, without irritating the hives on my left arm. (I think there could be a strong psycho-neurogenic component to the hives, based on some informal tests.) I've still got some of the same welts on my left foot that I've had for days, so I don't know if I could wear socks and shoes. I used to be a barefoot person, but now my feet feel so dirty, with the way I have been going barefoot to avoid irritating the welts. Still, the hives looks better, overall.

My no-brand Nazi pen arrived. You can see it was not a luxury item. It splatters ink readily and the nib is quite stiff, so I have to press much harder than I like to do, but the nib does flex and you can get the type of line width variation that flex nibs are for.
