... Have you heard of gasoline rations? Heh. :) At least
they have made it harder to have your fuel siphoned off, by in various
ways locking the fueling thingie. That was embarrassing to discover I
was dragging around the hose the thieves left hanging out of my
tank. It was all the people pointing and shouting that tipped me
off. :)

20 oil rigs missing in Gulf of Mexico: US Coast Guard - Yahoo! News

At least 20 oil rigs and platforms are missing in the Gulf of Mexico and a ruptured gas pipeline is on fire after Hurricane Katrina tore through the region, a US Coast Guard official said.

"We have confirmed at least 20 rigs or platforms missing, either sunk or adrift, and one confirmed fire where a rig was," Petty Officer Robert Reed of the Louisiana Coast Guard told AFP....

Over 91 percent of normal daily crude oil production in the Gulf -- 1.5 million barrels -- is now shut down, and more than 83 percent of natural gas production, the MMS said....

Thousands Feared Drowned in New Orleans - Yahoo! News

[The Leader] flew over New Orleans and parts of Mississippi's hurricane-blasted coastline in Air Force One. Turning to his aides, he said: "It's totally wiped out. ... It's devastating, it's got to be doubly devastating on the ground."

What the heck does that mean? Is that even English? You know what I
think? I think that's what he really said, and that it is an example
of how the Leader has learned, though his life, to generate
meaningless simulations of heartfelt expression. The simulations are
not perfect, however; Bush cannot quite say what a person with
conscience, or a more skillful narcissist, actually might say. So here
we are, and that's how it goes.
