Shorter version: Some of those retired generals used by the TV networks were part of a domestic propaganda operation at the DoD, an operation probably in violation of several federal laws. This was reported in the New York Times more than a week ago, but the TV networks have done no reporting on this, except for a brief mention by Keith Olbermann.

A major purpose of network news nowadays is to hide the truth from you. This is just one example. Television programming, in general, is designed to make you forget.
