Apollo 4 on column of fire

How does this attitude feel?

I just haven't been able to experience or imagine the interior life that leads someone to declare—if asked who was a great president—FDR or Lincoln, and in the course of the same hours or days also declare that they can’t see why Obama would want to become president now. Doesn’t it make ‘emotional’ sense that difficulty begets greatness, and lack of difficulty begets disappointment or boredom?

What is the relationship between aversion to the possibility of greatness and clinical depression?
