Apollo 4 on column of fire

Regarding bonuses

Bonuses, as well as piecework, are methods of payment that are asking for trouble and should not be used.

In piecework, the worker generally is decent and honest but is pushed into working fast at the cost of correctness. Piecework forces a worker to do inferior work. So also with bonuses, generally speaking; but with these guys at places like AIG, and in the ‘Jack Welch’ culture, if we might call it that, bonuses are the equivalent of a bank robbery, complete with dollar-sign bags.

Now THIS is interesting!

Obama to give monologue on the Leno show:

Too bad it’s not Conan O’Brien. I remember the time Conan had Anthony Quinn on as guest and was shocked to learn that the latter was of Irish ancestry. Tony retorted with Where do you think ‘‘Quinn’’ came from? Mr. Conan O’Brien from Boston was quite embarrassed. :)
