Of course this quiz didn’t try to decide my gender, so there was a good chance I would have proven to be a man. Yes, Troi is who I would have said I was most like, had I time to think about it – right down to the not getting along with my mother. :)

Let's not generalize

It’s not that pageant contestants are ignorant idiots; rather, it is idiotic, ignorant pageant contestants that are ignorant idiots.

How any such ignorant idiot without the slightest clue about anything could get so much media attention is, perhaps, a testament to Donald Trump.

My head is spinning

I remain flabbergasted at the ability of fellow lefties to declare Obama’s political strategies ‘losing’ even when they already have succeeded. The latest to make my head spin was Matt Rothschild.

Seriously, the detachment from reality is profound. To this day there are seemingly ordinary people (like Rothschild) who insist that Republicans voted unanimously against the stimulus bill, when in fact it was passed only by means of Republican votes.

This is not a separate issue from, for instance, PJ Carpenter’s at least one time inability to distinguish ‘explicit’ from ‘implicit’, thinking that the latter was the former – that Dick Cheney saying he backed torture was an explicit admission of criminal guilt, even though the guy was explicitly saying what he did was in his opinion legal. My head is spinning faster just thinking about it.

In case it matters, the most recent confirmed lahar is about 500 years ago, but there were mixed reports of eruptions in the late 1800s.

What would you estimate the odds to be of it happening in the next 200 years?

Thinking about it further, I think I now understand. You're saying the WSJ is being antisemitic, not the people they're quoting.

I don't think they'd listen to it coming from us, but a…

I'm not noticing it either. Seems to me they *are* being assholes to Jews, but only moreso than anybody else if we happen to be in the way. I think that's gneral-purpose assholery, not…
