Rosy scenarios
I notice that, when recommendations come down to do less illness screening, the arguments against assume the rosy scenario in which false positives do not bring harm. But I myself have suffered from a false positive for schizophrenia (in a situation not unlike a routine screening), and maybe people should go talk to Montel Williams who had a double mastectomy for what turned out to be some benign lumpy things that he had felt in his breast.
