The atheist Jew Jesus parable of the day

"A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it, and found none. He said to the vine dresser, 'Behold, these three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree, and found none. Cut it down. Why does it waste the soil?' He answered, 'Lord, leave it alone this year also, until I dig around it, and fertilize it. If it bears fruit, fine; but if not, after that, you can cut it down.'"

I do blame the forces of disillusionment, and to a lesser degree Obama for having primed them, but if Coakley is a sucky candidate than that is serious, too. In a roughly similar situation, Norm Coleman beat Fritz Mondale, and there has been much post mortem on how overenthusiastic Democrats like myself contributed to the loss, but seldom is it mentioned just how terrible a candidate Mondale turned out to be. I have seldom if ever seen such insolence in a Democratic elder statesman, and Mondale managed to pack it into less than a week. The event gave me new insight into how come Reagan was able to use Mondale as a toilet brush.

(I felt a little betrayed by Mondale, because I was turning out handmade ‘Mondale’ signs that I drew in great pain, and then he had to go and be so rude to Norm Coleman.)
