Last night as I lay down to sleep, I told Kristy it wouldn’t surprise me if I had an ‘eye attack’ (cluster headache attack) that night. I could feel it in my eye, I said. It turned out I was correct. The attack came as I was waking up in the morning (as opposed to having it wake me from sleep). For me, as usual, there are lingering effects, although Imitrex gives some relief. I’m using my right eye only and there’s that odor similar to roses. I wonder how long the recovery will take.

I don’t really mind it so much, because I don’t actually get much clustering (attacks day after day) and it gives me a clearcut chance to rest, especially since one of my aftereffects, enhanced by sedation from Imitrex, is a sort of torpor. Migraine attacks often serve the same purpose for myself and other people. (Please don’t think this is meant to apply to all migraineurs.) However it is very difficult to work on fonts with just the one eye; fortunately I had no plans to work on fonts today.
