Saints lose

I didn’t go to today’s game, because it’s been drizzling and I’m
aching, but anyway I didn’t miss anything I’d have regretted not
seeing, because the Saints ain’t the champions. See

Two years ago I nearly stayed home for the fifth game of the Northern
League championship series, then because it was sunny and I was
aching, but I gave in and showed up (without Kristy) in about the
third inning. If I hadn’t gone I would have missed the ‘miracle at
Midway’ (a bottom-of-the-ninth-inning two-out comeback that finished
with a grand slam). But not so today. Whew!

Yes, I am strange that way, being glad they lost so I wouldn’t have
missed their victory. Another example is the year we went to Duluth
for a playoff game, and made the Saints staff who were sitting behind
us look puzzled, because I was dressed up in Duluth garb and was
rooting madly for Duluth. The reason is I was sick of baseball by then
and wanted the season to end for me, which would have happened had
Duluth won that day.
