The death of Thomas Dougherty

I have been helped greatly today by the Elgin Genealogical Society, more specifically their website.  There they have on-line the Elgin Daily News account of my great grandfather Thomas Dougherty's death in 1911.

The most likely cause of death was, in my opinion, bipolar disorder.

Some of the facts may be incorrect, as usual for a newspaper story, but I think the story is not damaged significantly by these minor mistakes.  The "kiddie"  Tom mentioned in his suicide note grew up to become my grandmother.  My great grandmother, Orie, would later remarry, this time to the Reverend Baskerville Forester, who moved the family to Seattle, but Reverend Forester would soon after die of tuberculosis.

I have not yet put most of this information on-line in my genealogy charts at The Crud Factory.
