times I have had to use an ice pack to rest my right hand on, as a
pain killer. In the process I learned that Xft is an interface
between X Windows and FreeType, and that much of the functionality of
Xft was moved into what is now Fontconfig. Xft is poorly documented
but surprisingly easy to use.
This is the first time I have ever worked on X applications.
It was getting very frustrating being unable to take on programming
projects such as this. This one has pushed me right up to the limit,
and not without repercussions.
There is still the matter of making my changes fit in as a part of the
package, and making sure that if you leave out Xft then the "legacy" X
fonts support still works.
