Lionel makes fool of self on air

So-called Lionel just claimed that the vice presidency of the United States is not, historically, a helpful post for eventually becoming president.

Never mind, just in my lifetime, Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Legitimate Bush, and Legitimate Gore, only one of whom never won an actual presidential election thanks to having been vice president.

This error seems a great example of ‘orientation by intension’ (‘The vice presidency is a hole into which a person disappears, never to be seen again’ or some similar quip in the manner of a dictionary definition) as opposed to ‘orientation by extension’ (‘Let’s see, just in my lifetime, there were Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Legitimate Bush, and Gore, and there are other examples throughout American history’).
