I am astounded that these people have an archaic, earth-centered visualization of the universe in their heads.
I'm slightly less annoyed by people suggesting that an anthropomorphic principle changes the odds significantly and in their favor. Perhaps these people, unlike I, frequently encounter situations explainable away by an anthropic principle. Perhaps others, unlike I, think that the existence of intelligent life on Earth makes it less likely that there is intelligent life elsewhere.
