Seriously annoying

I am getting tired of scientists and physicians in TV documentaries stating that the human brain is the most complex thing in the universe. Today I heard it said ‘without doubt’, by an otherwise brilliant neuroscientist.

I am astounded that these people have an archaic, earth-centered visualization of the universe in their heads.

I'm slightly less annoyed by people suggesting that an anthropomorphic principle changes the odds significantly and in their favor. Perhaps these people, unlike I, frequently encounter situations explainable away by an anthropic principle. Perhaps others, unlike I, think that the existence of intelligent life on Earth makes it less likely that there is intelligent life elsewhere.
