[The Leader] flew over New Orleans and parts of Mississippi's hurricane-blasted coastline in Air Force One. Turning to his aides, he said: "It's totally wiped out. ... It's devastating, it's got to be doubly devastating on the ground."
What the heck does that mean? Is that even English? You know what I
think? I think that's what he really said, and that it is an example
of how the Leader has learned, though his life, to generate
meaningless simulations of heartfelt expression. The simulations are
not perfect, however; Bush cannot quite say what a person with
conscience, or a more skillful narcissist, actually might say. So here
we are, and that's how it goes.
